Choose Your Hard

Have you ever come across that post on social media that says, “Choose your hard”?

It usually lists out a series of contrasting realities:

  • “Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard.”

  • “Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard.”

  • “Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.”

Each time, it ends with the same powerful statement: choose your hard.

At first glance, it might just seem like another motivational quote floating around the internet. But sit with it for a second, and it hits deeper. The truth is, no matter what path you take in life, challenges are guaranteed. The difference is which challenges you're willing to face.

Far too often, people default to the easier option. The “someday” mentality. They think they’ll get to it eventually, that things will somehow fall into place. But here's the reality check: there are seven days in a week—and “someday” isn’t one of them (shoutout to the rapper Fabolous for that gem).

You always have the power to choose how you show up and what you’re willing to accept in your life. I don’t know your specific goals or dreams, but I do know this: the gap between reaching them and merely fantasizing about them is a choice. A daily one.

That choice can be tough—especially on the days when progress feels slow, when discipline feels exhausting, or when the dream seems far away. We've all had those moments where we think, “Man, this is some bullshit.” But even on those days, the work still matters.

So, I hope today you choose your hard.

Yes, it might mean being afraid. Yes, it might mean getting uncomfortable. But fear isn’t a bad sign—it just means you’re alive, stretching, growing.

Stepping outside your comfort zone and doing the hard things? That’s where the transformation happens.
